Alexander the Great’s military tactics and strategies are still studied in military academies today. He named more than 70 cities after himself- and one after his horse. Alexander commemorated his conquests by founding dozens of cities which he invariably named Alexandria. The most famous of these, founded at the mouth of the Nile River in 331 B.C. After six years of ever- deeper incursions into the Persian Empire, in 330 A.D Alexander conquered Persepolis.
